ANNOUNCING: Bad Girl Blogfest!

 Bad Girl Blogfest

On May 7, 2010, I will be hosting the Bad Girl Blogfest. Here’s how it works: Sometime between now and the end of the day May 7, post a scene to your blog and enter the link down below. Then, on May 7, come back here and check out all the other entries!

So, what is a Bad Girl? Do you have a female character who’s a little bit mean? Haughty? Conniving? Wretched? Does she lie? Cheat? Steal? Is she on the run from the Law? Or is she an Enforcer, dealing out Justice to those who deserve it? Bad Girls come in all shapes and sizes, from the not-so-innocent schoolgirl to the mad Empress of your fantasy Kingdom. Does she think she’s better than everyone, and that the world owes her something? Does she shoot first and ask questions later? We know they’re out there, haunting nightclubs and stalking graveyards, mixing potions and casting spells, hacking bank computers and  pushing drugs, you name it. There’s no end to the variety of good-girls-gone-bad out there. Bring it on!

If you tweet this, please use the hashtag #badgirlfest.

Bonus points to whomever can name the three bad girls in the banners! Here’s a small banner if you want to link to this post, followed by the embedding code.

  1. Oh goodness! I'll add a link to this in my sidebar and if I survive the blogfests I'm signed up for I'll come back and sign up for this one too. I may have to create a bad girl.

It's good to find another sci-fi writer out there. I was starting to think everyone was YA, romance or paranormal. ;)

  2. This is already giving me ideas, lol...I will surely take part in this blog fest.

  6. Yay for bad girl blogfest. The image is great. I only recognize one, the last looks like Jessica Rabbit to me, from that one movie, cartoon character. The others don't even look familiar to me, certainly not the first. But it's an awesome image, either way.

Count me in for the blogfest. I think I even have a character for this. Yay!

  7. Oh cool. Been waiting for this one.

Bonus: I know the red head is Jessica, Roger Rabbit's wife. I so loved her line: I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way. That was good. I was surprised I enjoyed this movie; I'm not much for comedy usually.

No clue who the other two are; but they look tough.

Oh no; I just realized the bar scene I'm posting Sunday is the same one I have in mind for here. Hmm, decisions, decisions. Do you have a preferred word count for this scene?

  9. Dude... too easy. ALL my women are bad girls.

All of them. Even the one sleeping next to me tonight.

I submitted FOUR links. Great topic.

  10. I don't think the widget talks four links, but you can certainly have whatever excerpts you want on your blog.

So no one can name the other two bad girls??
    Come on people!

For word count, 500 is a nice size, but since it's your own blog, I can't really do anything about it if you post long, short.

I think I may add some rules...which you can ignore except for #1.
    1) Sign up
    2) Sugg length ~500
    3) Link back to this post in your entry!
    4) Follow me or subscribe to my feed ('cause you love me 'n' stuff).
    5) Advertise this blogfest on your blog.
    6) Don't hold back/edit. Bring on the bad!

  11. All right, I can't name the other two, but I can say you forgot one: Elizabeth Hurley in Bedazzled!

    Woof.

I posted up SEVEN bad-arse women from four scenes, including a girl-on-girl cat fight, twins with pistols, and my rendition of Ms. Hurley (as Ms. Black).

  12. Ping IAN HEALY: I tried logging onto your website, but cannot seem to create an account. I read your story, great action, solid mix of dialogue and motion, graphic and professional.

Any tips on how I can join the site? The CAPTCHA kept kicking me out.

  13. I tried too. No luck.
When CAPTCHAs become human unreadable, then the machines have won. :(

  14. Soooo interesting. I don't have any bad girl heroines to allow me to join in this blogfest. But I love the idea and will have to create one soon.

  15. Duh! I DO have a bad girl heroine. She's a vampire bent on assassinating the hero. So I'm going to join and pre-schedule my entry right now. I can't believe I forgot about her. Her book releases in a couple weeks. Perfect timing. :)

  16. Hi Ashley. When I went to your website I saw a novel called "Bad Conduct" so I'm surprised you even had to think about it. ;) ;)
    Welcome to the blogfest!

  17. Sweet. This is on my birthday. Can't think of a better 'fest to celebrate. :-)

  18. Reminder that this is a week from today! I can't wait!

  19. I sense another R-Rated blogfest coming on. If this keeps up, I'm going to have to put a permanent disclaimer on my blog.

Do you really live in Sammamish? Cool. Someone else who can spell Issaquah and knows Sedro Wolley is a place.

  20. But I also went to Penn and I can spell (and pronounce) Schuylkill and Bala Cynwyd.

Don't worry about ratings, I'm sure it will be fine. I can't wait to see everyone's entries!

  21. Alright... my first blogfest contribution... I hope it worked!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I hope I can get my next episode of one of my serials ready for this... she's bad girl through and through. Awesome stuff!

  23. Great blogfest! Better late than never, I think, as I throw in Wild West bad girl heroine Misfit Lil. I don't have a blog as such but you can read an excerpt from her latest adventure at the link given, plus an early article on her "history" at http://blackhorsewesterns.com.bhe3

  24. Thanx for the fest, this was fun!
