The Hero`s Journey

This is a series of posts talking about the story structure known as “The Hero’s Journey.” I’m borrowing heavily from“The Writer’s Journey: A Mythical Structure for Writers 3rd Edition” by Christopher Vogler. This is my interpretation of it, and I’ve tried to highlight some pitfalls I see writers falling into.

The Twelve Stages of the Hero's Journey

  • Part One: The Ordinary World
  • Part Two: The Call To Adventure
  • Part Three: Refusal of the Call
  • Part Four: Meeting with the Mentor
  • Part Five: Crossing the First Threshold
  • Part Six: Tests, Allies, and Enemies
  • Part Seven: Approach to the Inmost Cave
  • Part Eight: The Ordeal
  • Part Nine: The Reward
  • Part Ten: The Road Back
  • Part Eleven: Resurrection
  • Part Twelve: Return With The Elixir
