UFO in Seattle!

UFO in Seattle!

OK...I'm trying to be rational about this. I mean, there must have been 50,000 witnesses, but no one has said anything? Is there a government coverup? Check this out...I was sitting in the stands, watching the Mariners game, when all of a sudden this big blinking cylinder shoots down from the sky, hovers over the stadium, and then rushes away in a split second. It was the strangest thing...while it was there...the entire crowd fell silent...just gazing at it. No screaming, nothing. Then after it leaves...people just start talking like nothing happened!

I grabbed my cell phone and shot this real quick before it dissipated.
I ask people, "did you see that? What the hell was that?" Nothing. Everyone thinks I'm talking about a play...but this was right in the sky! I don't know how to describe it. I saw a real, live UFO! It must have used some kind of brain control to put everyone else in a trance. How else do you explain it? Are there people missing? I swear there were more people in the stadium before it came. I've Googled it and come up with nothing. This isn't the first time this has been sighted over Seattle.

Check out these other cases:

Has anyone seen this thing?? Are we in danger??

Hawk Walk 5K RR--I suck

Hawk Walk 5K RR--I suck

Well I guess I could make a lot of excuses, like how my back killed my training, my heels are dying, I've gained too much weight and I'm getting old. But the reality is that I just suck. Last year I had a miraculous streak where all I did was break personal records, and now I run my slowest 5K in 16 months.

Now everything is a struggle. I hope I can push through all this because it was the continual improvement that kept me going. I just had no energy after the first mile, and I couldn't even get my HR up at all. I just had nothing. I'm wondering if I'm fighting a cold or something.

The run is on a trail along the Sammamish River that I use a lot for long runs so I was really familiar with it. It was sunny but cool, maybe not even 50 at the start.

Here are the unhappy totals:
Mile Pace HR
1 9:40 162

2 10:18 171
3 10:34 174

.1 9:14 180

So the final total: Time: 31:21

A Medical Update

A Medical Update

First of all, for those of you who actually look at the blog, you'll see a few changes...namely the live blogroll that shows the last 5 posts from people on my blog roll...if you don't see your blog, let me know and I'll add you! :)

So as far as the medical stuff, this year has been challenging from the injury point of view (fortunately no major illnesses although my daughter has had a fever for days :( )

I hurt my back snowboarding at the end of Feb, and it took me about 4 weeks of physical therapy to recover from that. But then as I got better, I started running a lot more, and now I've been diagnosed with Achilles Insertional Calcific Tendonitis. This is causing me a lot of pain in the back of my heel, and some days I can barely run. (no that's not my foot)

So now I'm doing a couple of things for therapy:
  • Wearing a foot splint at night
  • Ultrasound therapy
  • Ice massage (stick your leg into an icy glacial stream for full effect)
  • Eccentric Loading for my calf

Does anybody now see

Does Anybody Now See

The friggin' Bird on a Stick image behind the title of this blog??
I've been trying to get this image to show up for months...apparently it was too wide...and since it's hosted on Blogger.com and my site is dawnsrise.com...it won't show up! Some cross-site blocking...

This is an actual picture that I actually took myself on a run a couple years ago.
Anyways if you still can't see it...I'm going to f-ing rip a hole in something.

Has anyone noticed the whole "time and date" thingy they added to Blogger? I can set the time that this post shows up at. Now I can re-order posts if I need too! I really could have used this during NaNoWriMo so I didn't have to fiddle with post things at odd hours.

So I'm looking at a new writing project...I want to write a screenplay about my college years. So many crazy things happened...if I condensed 4 years of antics into a compressed format I think it would be really interesting.

The only problem is that I was the world biggest loser in College...and who wants to see a movie about a loser? I didn't have any redeeming accomplishments either.
But I did interact with a lot of fascinating people...one in particular is probably going to be the focus of my script...the guy who forever changed my life on one drunken road trip (think Beer Fest...not Crying Game...Jeez)

I'm also determined to start updating this blog regularly even if I have nothing to say. I'm tired of everyone else having all the blogging fun.

I sent some emails to some college roomies to see if they could remember some details I can't. I've never written a memoir before...should be an interesting trip!
