I only consider a race a "win" if I can either my personal record for that distance, or I beat my record for that course. Or at least beat my time from my previous race. So there's that ultimate drama of that final minute of the race when the race clock comes into view, and I find out whether a record has fallen or not. Then again after years of racing I pretty much know about half way thru if I'm on pace for a record so it's not as dramatic anymore...unless my first half was super fast. Then the adrenaline really starts pumping.Andrew Rosenberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09215333688753781447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5042906897152963913.post-68188908432748013502009-05-21T08:33:01.440-07:002009-05-21T08:33:01.440-07:00This is some great writing!

There's always the excitement of the goal, self-doubts, and then you reach it, and it's on to the next race.Jewel Allenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09614039445924074306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5042906897152963913.post-36078768550176296732009-05-18T22:12:00.000-07:002009-05-18T22:12:00.000-07:00BTW DD just has a sinus infection (which is what I...BTW DD just has a sinus infection (which is what I suspected). No Swine.<br /><br />I've been writing for a long time...but just drafts. Some of my old writing is so bad I can't force myself to read it. The last couple months have been full-time writing. I feel like I'm improving but at some point I need to know if I can do this long-term. It's not easy to drop a career mid-life and start a new one. <br /><br />Anyways, thanks for the inspiration for this post! I feel it's one of the best blog posts I've ever written. :)Andrew Rosenberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09215333688753781447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5042906897152963913.post-42486757244104623832009-05-18T20:22:00.000-07:002009-05-18T20:22:00.000-07:00"I’ve only been on this writing thing for two mont..."I’ve only been on this writing thing for two months. Where will I be in two years? What will I be able to accomplish if I dedicate myself to writing as much as I’ve dedicated myself to running?"<br /><br />Damn right. You hang in there, and keep working :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
